So apparently Intel is now selling certain processors at Best Buy that have features locked down on them. The features can only be unlocked if you pay an additional $50 to intel to download an upgrade package.

According to multiple sources, the upgrade package does not alter anything about the current configuration of equipment, it simply unlocks standard capabilities of the processor that were locked down for the purposes of selling this upgrade.
